I thought I'd be back here on Tuesday, but, you know, life. I really appreciate all your comments about chores/cleaning from earlier this week. If you find yourself in the same situation as me, there are some good ideas in the comments. I'm trying FlyLady for now. I'll let you know how that works out.
In other, much more exciting news – well, exciting for me – one of my projects is in the Fall/Winter issue of Stitch.
I made this cozy wool muff back in July and am anxious to give it a whirl as the temperature starts to drop. Did you have one of these as a young girl? It's a fun project that shouldn't take too long to make – an afternoon or maybe a bit more. It does require a little patience to sew through all the layers, but the construction is simple. I made mine out of wool and velveteen, but I think it would be equally as cute out of corduroy and flannel with a folksy ribbon. Let me know if you make one – I'd love to see photos!
I really like this issue of Stitch. It's full of great projects and many of them are well-suited for holiday gift giving. I just started to make a list of the items I am anxious to make and it's long. Too long to share. You'll recognize many of the contributing designers if you read blogs, which I assume you do because you are reading this. Really, it's all so good. And I'd still say that if my project hadn't been included. But it was, so yay!
I used Flylady a long time ago…about 7 or more years ago. It was great!!!! I still use most of her ideas, slipped a bit. Really funny because I was thinking of going back to her website, and here it is on your post….yup somethings giving me a sign!!!
How exciting! I have that issue, I guess I should take a better look at it.
I thought I recognized that muff in your “Quiet” post. Guess I didn’t pay attention to the designer as I looked through the magazine – probably because I was overwhelmed by all the goodness I was seeing. Cangratulations!
Erin, your muff was my favorite project in this issue of Stitch. This is a great issue, lots of good stuff.
I LOVE that muff. I have this issue and you are right…it is FULL of so many fun projects.
Congratulations.
I tried Fly lady and I liked her ideas/program, but HATED the thousands of e-mails I got everyday so I got off the e-mail list.
Love the muff, what a fun project!
i’ve been using FlyLady for a few years–i discovered her about the same time i discovered craft blogs, and both have made a huge difference in my life. (you know i’m all about the routines!)
the muff is absolutely delightful Erin!! really, really beautiful!
congratulations erin! that’s so great.
Love you muff design! I did have one as a little girl that was mainly used for going to church, and I really loved it!
I definitely need to pick up the new issue of Stitch, from everything I’ve seen so far all of the projects are great!
I do especially love this issue of stitch. It will keep me happy in the craft room for days!
I SO wanted a muff when I was a kid. They’d be attached to the big faux fur trimmed coats at KMart. I never got one. Maybe I will make my own. Or one for my daughter. Or for us both!! Thanks for posting, and for reminding me…
Congratulation! I just order my copy online yesterday. I had hoped I could find it in a local store but no such luck and I was too excited to wait! Your project is adorable, great photo.
Your muff is beautiful! Very clever project!
This is too, too cute. I’m hoping we can use your pattern to make a faux fur one like I had growing up–anyone know where to find faux fur ear muffs? 🙂 My parents were very frugal, but for some reason I had rabbit fur ear muffs and matching muff!
Oo! I almost bought this issue for myself for my bday 2 weeks ago. Now I regret not buying it.
Great project. I remember my sister having a muff when I was younger and being terribly jealous.
That is so darling! I might have to see if I can buy it somewhere. Congrats on having your project in there.
makes me think of the laura and mary books my girls are reading.
Ahh… flylady. I still hear “decluttering” in my head whenever my house drives me crazier than usual. Love that word — good luck with it all!
I’ve seen a few cute projects from the magazine, I’m gonna have to hunt a copy down!
Congrats on another project published. It is beautiful. We are having a great time on Nevis. love to all, Mom
Oh, a for reals muff! I’m crazy about the colors you chose.
I LOVE the bold strips on the muff. it’s a beautiful and sophisticated design. congrats – that’s a great magazine!
Love this issue too Erin and if I lived somewhere cold enough I’d be making that muff!
Congratulations Erin – I love this magazine and wish it was easier to find in Australia. It is lurking in some bookstores but you need supreme detective skills to find a copy!
yay is right! It was fun to sit at your table with you and see the sketchs for this come together.
It’s an adorable muff, but I think I actually want to make something with a very similar look as a throw pillow…so cool! Thanks for the inspiration!
congrats on your appearance in stitch! yay you!!!
congratulations erin!! the muff is so cute. and this is a great issue of stitch– i just got it and my mind is whirling with all the great projects! wishing the holiday gift-making season didn’t coincide with finals/ paper-writing time… i could happily just be sewing all day these days.
I love this project. I remember having a muff and matching faux fur hat when I was little and it always made me feel like a snow princess. I really like your grown up version.
