Six more little patchwork blocks. That brings the total to 16 for the week. All are made from scraps which I find very satisfying. I do like some of the squares better than others. The first few I made are my favorites – I think it is because I didn't really think about what I was sewing together, I just sewed. As time went on, I found myself looking at colors and trying to balance the squares more – that whole over-thinking thing I tend to do. I think you can see that in these. I guess old habits die hard.
I started making these just because. I had no plans for them when I started. But I now know what I am going to do with them – I'll fill you in on that next week after my local craft swap. Can't ruin the surprise, you know.
Off I go. Have a fantastic weekend.
I sew a lot of knitted squares into afghans for customers who have knitted the squares. I find that making things random is always harder than you would think and often requires a lot of thought.
This looks like lots of fun.
happy travels erin! hope you have a wonderful weekend.
xo
I am so in love with these! I just cannot get enough!!!!
I love your local craft swap posts. Will be tuning in!
These are so cute. They’ll make a lovely quilt.
i love them. and i especially love that they are made from scraps you already had around.
i also love that bench/tabletop you photographed them on. 🙂
They look lovely. I don’t think they’re “over-thought” at all (though I know what you mean–I always feel like I do that too!)
happy happy weekend Erin!!
My favorite is the bottom right! These are great. I am not a quilter…perhaps someday I will get up the nerve to try it.
have a great time this weekend. Love the blocks and love your new banner!
Lovely – what a great use of scraps!! Can’t wait to see what they become!
I think you’re too hard on yourself. Love these! Love all the colors.
I love making things out of scraps – satisfying indeed. These colors are lovely!
Looks great! Cant wait to see the finished project!!
Can’t wait to see what you come up with…you are so creative, I just love to see how you make the ordinary extraordinary.
They’re so cute.. can’t wait to see what’ll come of them! I tried doing the wonky thing and then I just overthink things and my blocks came out pretty uniform lol Oh well!
oh to have your scraps.
Don’t you just love scrappy log cabin blocks? They’re just so much fun.
I can relate to the “over thinking”, Erin. I did that on a quilt I made, omg–over ten years ago now!–and I have never really liked it. And it is a star quilt that took a long time to make and really kicked my butt. Next time I take on such a big project I’m going to go more with my gut.
Love the squares and can’t wait to see what becomes of them!
They are just beautiful. I can’t wait to see what you are going to do with them.
I over think everything so can totally relate.
your blocks are great! i am looking forward to see what you use them for.
definately see more planning in this set, but they are still lovely…makes my heart cry for a rainy day!
Those blocks are so great! You have the most fabulous fabrics.
Love the scrappy log cabins! I agree with you though on the over thinking, do it all the time myself. I can’t wait to see what you have in store…
On a non-related topic… check out my favorite fall “trick” on my blog, I think you’ll like it!
I love throwing fabric together and watching what it becomes. Log cabin’s are such a fun way to experiment.
I do the same thing, put my ironing board low, next to my chair and I don’t have all that getting up and down shinanigans (sp). I figure it saved me enough time to complete at last two squares I wouldn’t otherwise have had time fir. So what i’m saying is you aren’t lazy you a time efficient.
Great looking squares by the way.
They are all so beautiful. Really. Although the first batch from your found time is really amazing. But I know that whatever you come up with is going to be incredible!
I love these. I’m thinking about making some coasters for Christmas with my remaining scraps. Yours look like perfect little coasters 🙂
I really love your little blocks.
Andi 🙂
I really need to learn how to make these.
Love the blocks!!
