The girls and I baked cookies on Monday. I love to bake, but don't do it often because I have a huge sweet tooth. And when I bake, I sample. A lot.
Yesterday I finished four quilt squares. And four cookies. I was hoping for a little more sewing and a little less chewing. But, today promises to be a bit better. There are only two cookies left in the jar and 27 quilt squares waiting to be sewn.
I think we all know which I will finish first.
Mmmmmmmm…
quilt? oh. what? huh?
I was distracted by the cookies.
We made cookies for the first time in a long time last weekend too. I eat more cookies than anyone else in the house–they’re just so good! Happy sewing.
you might need those last 2 cookies to give you the energy for the 27 squares (I can always find a way to justify snack eating!)
Glad to know I’m not the only one who has a huge sweet tooth! Sometimes we just have to give in though.
Me too. I LOVE to bake…homemade pies, cakes, cookies and brownies. But then I eat….and eat….and eat. And so does my husband. So I really have to limit what I bake or before long we both start resembling cream puffs!

I made cookies with my 2 year old granddaughter this weekend and when I went back yesterday to have another I found out I was too late. Enjoy them while you can they disappear quickly.
me too. We put them all in the freezer so that we can only have a couple at a time.
I can totally relate here. I also have quite a weakness for baked bread!
Oh my gosh! Chocolate chip cookies are on my to do list today. Seriously. It’s what my soon-to-be seven year old wants to take to school for birthday treat tomorrow.
Happy day to you.
man oh man do i know what you mean, cookies have never lasted more than 12 hours tops in our house. i love making them too. but, i only do it every couple of weeks as the whole family ends up on big sugar high. oh, and i’ve totally ruined fabric by getting choc. chips on my wip, was anyone else done this?
You crack me up!
Also, I rarely bake for the same reason! lol.
I love to bake but I can’t often for the same reason! And my studio’s so close to the kitchen that it’s very dangerous because there’s nothing to stop me from popping in there every two seconds hehe!
I have a friend who has a huge sweet tooth ANd addiction to cookies (and cookie dough). SHe’s been known to shoot me an email at 2 am saying “charlie got up to nurse. I stayed up to eat nine cookies and an entire bowl of cookie dough. Intervention, please?” Which of course I offer, in the form of just-make-the-dough-and-drop-it-at-my-house-please;)! PS– there is a mirror image pic on my blog today that show’s a very pretty camera…well, at least a very pretty camera strap! Thanks again!

Mmmmm…cookies. Before we had kids, my hubby and I had a system. He would mix the CCC batter and I would bake the cookies. I miss those days! But I’m looking forward to when the kids are a little older and baking isn’t quite the production it is now, which means I rarely do it!
Oh sweet tooth, right here! Ps I love your bread box – I can’t wait to see the quilt when it is all finished up!!
Oooh…those cookies look so yummy!!! Would you care to share that recipe? I would very much appreciate that. Thanks. I LOVE your blog!!!!!!
Creativity requires fuel. Or some other sage saying that justifies treat-munching.
I think the cookie munching is well justified. ☺
Yum to those cookies!
they look so good! what recipe do you use? Jamie
My motto is “Just finish the damn cookies, so they’ll be out of the house.” HA!
Although, now Sarah has me wanting pumpkin bread…
Go Erin Go! Can’t wait to see the single girl quilt!
I’m about to go make cookies right now! Must be that fall is in the air… My secret for avoiding the cookie binge? I only cook up one tray or even less after I make the dough, then I freeze the rest in little balls, perfect for popping out one at a time to bake and enjoy in moderation:) Not that indulging in a healthy cookie pig out now and again isn’t perfectly good medicine for the soul! I can remember a few times when my mom would make cookies and we’d be eyeballing the steaming stacks. Occasionally she’d just let us go to town, no cookie limits involved. What a treat!
Haha, there I was, trying to think of a clever response, and then I just got distracted by how good that cookie actually looks, and now I want cookies- thanks, so much, for that… hehe…
i think i must be the weird minority, because although i love cookies, i rarely feel inspired to sample the fresh new product. somehow i’ve made an arrangement with myself whereby i take two a day to work, and that’s all i get. who knows. but your cookies look delicious and hope the quilting goes well! i’m trying to finish up one myself.
i have been craving cookies for a couple of days and just can’t get around to making the dough…the best part!
I feel we are the same person! I too have a sweet tooth and cookies (biscuits – UK term) go very very quickly from the biscuit tin. It’s wrong to let them go stale!!! And I love baking, not a good combo for my waistline! Plus I also just bought Bake by Rachel Allen, yummy scrummy! Have a lovely weekend and I love love love the skirt you’ve made, from what I can see (very Boden!)
I’m right there with you on loving to bake… and loving to sample!
Yep, I have similar stats. Made me smile,
OMG!!! Those cookies look so yummy. I hope to know how to cook cookies n my own. LOL!!!
I have the same problem with baking! In fact, as I was slicing a piece of cheesecake to sample – one I made on TV no less – my 3 year old referred to me as “The Bakery”.
