Still no phone

AT&T says it'll be back by tomorrow.  Fingers crossed.  Having no internet is driving me crazy.  I used my cell phone to call a friend so she could google king mattress dimensions for me.  How is that for desperate?  Sad, too, I know.  Oh well, my bedskirt is almost finished.

I hope to be back soon.

I didn't mean to disappear

This week just didn't go as I had planned.

We had huge wind storms (and maybe some tornadoes) on Tuesday night.  A huge tree fell down in our neighbors' back yard and our power went out at about 8:00 p.m.  We spent Wednesday night in a hotel.  The electricity finally came back on Thursday afternoon around 4:30.  We still don't have phone service.  I am blogging from the coffee shop with free wi fi.

As soon as I have my dsl back up and running, I'll be back blogging and flickr-ing.

Daffodils_003_1_1

Until then, enjoy these daffodils.  I bought them on Monday and amazingly, they still look great.  The 45 degree temperature in the house did not bother them one bit.  Looking on the bright side, I just get to enjoy them that much longer.

Stay well friends.

Jiggity Jig

I'm home again.  And I can't get that nursery rhyme out of my head.

As fun as it is to get away, it is always good to come home.  I am refreshed, but tired - if that makes any sense.  I have a huge list of things I want to do, but some things, like groceries, need to happen first.  Work and then play, I guess.  I'm going to get busy.  I really want to sew.

No work and no school

Here I am - blogging in the afternoon again.  It's been a wonderfully long weekend.  The girls were out of school at noon on Thursday and they go back tomorrow morning.  Fatty and I took them on an overnight getaway Friday.  We went here.  It was incredibly fun and 24 hours away was just the right length of time.  We had friends for dinner last night and today the girls and I stayed in our p.j.'s until noon.

Jane put together a Playmobil set - all by herself.  Kate made lunch for the two of them (rice cakes with peanut butter, anyone?).  They cleaned the playroom and put their clothes away.  It was a nice change of pace.  They had no school and I pretty much had the day off.  That was a nice treat.

I am headed back to Telluride on Wednesday with some girlfriends for a long weekend.  I'm not sure if I will be around the blog or not.  Stay well friends.

It didn't happen

The sewing room is still a mess.  I never got to it yesterday.  I had a repairman here and it didn't feel right to leave him traipsing through my house while I was upstairs in the walk-in closet that is my little space.  So I hung out in the kitchen, cooked some and took pictures of vegetables. Yeah, the repair man thought I was weird.

I thought this might brighten up your day.

I bought these on Saturday and they are still going strong on the kitchen table.  I love having fresh flowers in the house.  They do wonders for my spirits.

Lots of things are making me twitchy to sew:
this quilt daria made
the thought of vintage linens
all the yellow in this one
the best button haul ever
and this bag.  I love this bag.

Enough of my random thoughts.  I really do have to clean that room.  Enjoy your Thursday.

Goodbye 2007....Hello 2008

I am in Telluride, with Fatty and the girls and part of my family.  The skiing is good - the snow is soft, but man, it is cold outside.  It has been a nice getaway so far and we have a few days left.  Christmas was wonderful with the exception of a very bad cold.  In fact, it was so good that not only did Santa come, but the tooth fairy paid Kate a visit too.  Both of my girls have lost teeth on Christmas.  Crazy, huh?

So 2007 is ending.....and, geographically speaking, I am right where I was when it began.  I'mlooking forward to 2008.  I have a mental list of resolutions that I plan on putting on paper in the next few days.  I also have some handmade gifts to share and some new knitting on the needles.  Lots of good stuff - well, at least I think so.

Happy New Year to you.  I just have a feeling that 2008 is going to begood - really good.

It's a Christmas Miracle

The shopping is finished.

Most of the presents are wrapped.

The holiday cards are ready to go.

There is a wee bit of knitting to finish - mostly weaving in ends and sewing in a casing.

I am not stressed.

Let me repeat.  I am not stressed.

And Scout is finally using her bed.  No cat nip involved either.

That, in itself, may be a Christmas miracle.

I am going to take some time off from the blog to just be.  I hope you have a splendid holiday filled with fun and laughter, family and friends, good food and drink.

I have a great feeling about 2008.  See you then.
