We are all home from various places, settling in to our days. It's been a sea of laundry and home cooked meals. A little hand stitching and plans for bigger projects are simmering, too. For now, I am just dipping my toes back in the blog waters and it feels pretty good. I am almost ready to jump back in. Soon.
Ooooh I think I like , no, love your kitchen!
Love your header and all of you lovely photos. The peanut butter cookies brought me right back to my childhood and my mommy’s cookies…I can smell them now. Sounds like your home is buzzing with all sorts of happy family times. Have a good one!
Ok, I feel a little foolish for having to ask, but what is that striped stuff? And how do you prepare it?! I’m assuming some kind of vegetable!!! Oh, I agree wholeheartedly about the PB cookies… they look GOOD!
Are those beets? They look so cool!
They are beets! They were in last week's CSA box and I peeled them and then roasted them with olive oil and salt at 425 for about 35 minutes. YUM!
Yes! They were in our CSA box and I was so surprised when I peeled them. They were also delicious!
Erin, your photos always look so fabulous, especially the food!
Those cookies look delish! Mmmmmmm.
Glad to see you here and settling in. Hubby and I were just talking about being home and how there just seems the need to be home more instead of race, race, racing through our lives. ~Kelly

The Heart in Hand Project
I’m glad someone asked you about the last photo. I thought maybe they were turnips. I’ve never seen beets like that before: they look like peppermint candies.
welcome back! I was thinking about dipping a toe back into blog water. Is it warm enough? We’re all about being home right now too. I’m so looking forward to summer here.
I have those beets growing in my garden. I’m harvesting some today, along with golden beets. Yum.
welcome back, girly. you’ve been on a whirlwind these past few weeks. and a most wonderful whirlwind, i hope. happy girl camp 🙂
lovely photos, erin!
have to tell you that i recently whipped out your soap-making tutorial for my little next door neighbor and her friend (two 9 yr olds). i did everything exactly as you suggested in your tutorial, even to buying the trinkets and scents, and they were an absolute smash hit. thanks for making two little girls very happy (and one big girl too – i had so much fun).
I had no idea what they were either. Thanks for asking.
Well that was a mouth-watering post.
I do believe those are the prettiest beets I’ve ever seen.
Lovely ‘every day’ photos which are great to see. Looking forward to reading about the present projects!
your kitchen is looking pretty good!
red & white stripes?? I know they are not peppermints.lol..but what??
Where did you get that cool popsicle mold!?
beets! fun, huh?
i bought it from amazon – here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002IBJOG/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=houseonhillro-20&linkCode=as2&camp=217145&creative=399373&creativeASIN=B0002IBJOG
that kitchen looks like a perfectly happy place to be!
Is it any wonder that I’m starving after this post? And I admit, the beets are the thing I’m salivating for most.
Amazingly beautiful post! Tasty too! Choggia Beets are my very favorite. I just love their color and the lighter flavor really makes them a winner. They don’t have any of that metalic flavor of their dark red cousins. 🙂 Try yellow beets too if you are a doubter. They are nearly as good!
Blessings,
Val
The yellow beets are our favorite!
