We returned home last night from a visit to see family in North Carolina. In the two days we were there, we celebrated one nephew’s birthday and another’s baptism. One suitcase was full of gifts, a few of which I made.
I knitted a sweater for our new nephew and godson, Kenan.
Pattern: Child’s Placket Neck Sweater from Last-Minute Knitted Gifts
Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Organic Cotton (about 1 1/2 skeins for size 0-6 months)
Needles: Size 6 bamboo 16" circular and double points
Modifications: None
Notes: My copy of the book has the updated pattern so I did not encounter any problems at all. There is a corrected pattern here. I knit it up and weaved in all ends in 7 hours and 50 minutes (not all in one sitting) – sewing the buttons on put me over the 8 hour mark. I thought it was a fast and satisfying knit – I will probably make it again.
OK, off to make a meal plan, pay the bills and tackle the laundry. Have a great day.
I really love this pattern – thanks for sharing the link.
i wish i was little. and needed a great sweater. good job, erin. it is beautiful.

We suddenly are finding out that we know a bunch of pregnant people. i was thinking I might make one of these to have on hand for when all those babies arrive.
You amaze me!!! I love this sweater!!! xoxoxo
Hey! I’m knitting this sweater right now…only I’m stuck at the under arm part. And I’ve been laughing bitterly about the 8 hour thing….I’m, shall we say, a bit SLOW….
Anyway, GREAT job on yours; it is adorable!
Oh my, that is one beautiful little sweater.
erin, I love this sweater! My sister made this for my son in an orange, gold color with a matching hat. It is so sweet, and i bet he looks precious in it!
I have this book out of the library right now because the booties are so quick and easy–(although mine came out too big for elizabeth).
Thanks for the updated pattern. I can’t keep up with all this knitting goodness on here, erin. It doesn’t help that we have the exact same taste in knitted ware!
So lovely-a very lucky boy! I hope they have the pattern in larger sizes, would love one for my daughter.
super cute and super sweet!
who wouldn’t love a beautiful hand knit sweater as a baby gift!
hope you all had a wonderful time.
Lovely lovely lovely!
To say I am impressed is an understatement π
In 8 hours I think I’ll be lucky to finish the basic scarf I am knitting π Someday I hope to tackle a project like this.
It’s very cute. Did you set a timer?
What a beauty π
I’ve been lurking around your blog for a few weeks now. You do great work! I love this sewater – it’s amazing you can do that in 8 hours!!
That is simply adorable!! Lucky baby!
i love this sweater. its for sweaters like this, and those darling socks you make that i’m determined to teach myself to knit.
This is so cute, I’m so tempted to try knitting though I know nuts about it.
adorable. you are amazing. I bet Kenan looks handsome in it.
oh! i love it! may consider it for baby jack, for christmas. i started my socks this weekend … on the trip to columbus – but the needles and yarn are tiny – it all made me a little carsick. i got 4 rows done! that’s it!
That is so cute! I can’t believe you can get that done in eight hours.
Oh to be a little one wrapped up in such goodness!
Happy planning and paying π
That sweater looks lovely!

I love this sweater and the color of it! I’m only a beginner though – do you think its do-able for me?
That sweater is unbelievable! What a lucky baby to receive it!
