Thank you all so very much for the nice comments on my blouse. It is wonderful to sew something for myself that fits and that I will wear. It makes me want to sew clothes more and more!
I have been plowing away at my Liberty quilt. I finished quilting it the other night so it's ready for binding. It took me hours and hours to free-motion quilt it. I won't tell you how many episodes of Felicity on Netflix – I'll just say I'm well into the second season. I'm trying to decide what I want to do about the binding. I have a particular Liberty fabric in mind, but I don't think I have enough. Of course, it would help if I could find said fabric in the mess that was formerly known as my studio. It's time for a big clean-up and then time to pull out the calculator and do some serious figuring. Fingers crossed that I don't have to order anything! In the meantime, my girls are in desparate need of spring p.j.'s. While I search the studio for Liberty, I bet I'll find something they'll like. Right?
gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.
LOVE
Love this! I love the backing color too.
I am such a s-l-o-w quilter, you’re an inspiration!
so pretty and so almost done. good luck finding the binding and checking it off the list : )
felicity was sooo good!
Ooh! It’s lovely. I bet you will come up with a perfect binding. the good thing is that the quilt has lots of fabrics so maybe you can stretch your binding of choice with a few scraps sewn in. As for Felicity, that’s a series that I’ve been meaning to watch too!
sigh…this is so good.
So gorgeous! I forget – is this queen or king size?
I’ve been watching Felicity too the last couple of weeks while hand sewing and knitting. It’s kind of the perfect thing to watch when you need to pay attention to something else.
It's king sized. And yes, Felicity is perfect for working on something else. xo.
you are something! fantastic work!
Gorgeous quilt! Mayve you can do a scrappy binding? This will allow you to use up all of your liberty fabric!
It’s beautiful. I love how you quilted it – well worth the time.
Your quilt looks great. Now you’ll need some good books to go with it.
For the binding, since all your edges are straight, don’t waste fabric by cutting on the bias. I always cut strips on the grain and it turns out great. Then while perusing a quilt book by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr they suggested the same thing which made me feel oh-so smart π
Lovely!!!
Such a gorgeous quilt!
That is going to be soso gorgeous on your bed!!! You work incredibly fast from this side of the computer π
Hi! I’ve been following you on Instagram (I’m klassykara) and I’m super excited to read more on your blog. π
Beautiful. Wow.
I absolutely covet every quilt that you make! And I love, love, love the Liberty fabrics as well. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
Gorgeous quilt! I absolutely love the colours!!
So funny! I’m so glad someone else in their admits to watching Felicity! I got through all 4 seasons and saw them graduate. I have no idea how I missed it the first time around. Loved Kerri Russell after watching this. I won’t say a word about how it ends. I however, did nothing productive like making a quilt while watching. The quilt looks beautiful.
If you wouldn’t mind getting that binding on and sending the whole gorgeous stunning lovely quilt right this way, that’d be wonderful.
Thanks π
(Beautiful, beautiful work, Erin.)
What a beautiful quilt! Love Liberty fabrics…
Am loving it. Please do show it on your bed. Hand sewing binding is my favorite step….so relaxing! Enjoy!
I like you! During naptime today I was doing a little blog hopping and here you are! What a lovely little spot you have in blogland! I think I’ll stay awhile!
Quilt progress is always exciting!
Here’s what I can’t figure out: how did you hear and see the TV while machine quilting?
It’s an absolutely gorgeous quilt by the way, on my dream to-do list. How wonderful to sleep under that.
You are right! I don't really watch the show, per se. Because this quilting had a lot of stopping and starting, I'd glance up when I had the chance, but otherwise it was background noise (volume turned up high to compete with the machine!).
How horribly difficult was it to stuff the king-sized quilt into your machine to quilt it? I’m dying to make a quilt for our king bed, but am scared of the actual quilting part. And the weirdo perfectionist in me feels like sending it off to be quilted by someone else would sort of be cheating. If you have the time to share, I would most certainly appreciate it. Thanks!
By the way- it. is. stunning.
Hi Lia – I sew on a Bernina 820 which has a very large throat so I didn't have too hard of a time. I ended up buying this particular machine because I wanted to be able to quilt my own quilts, no matter the size. That said, I think sending it out is always a good option and definitely not cheating! Good luck – Erin
