I took this photo last night right before I went out the door to plants some mums. The days are definitely getting shorter.
The Halloween decorations are up. The nights are cool and crisp. It was still dark when we started the walk to school today. I am wearing a new corduroy skirt and a cozy sweater. I thought about boots, but it’s not time quite yet. The girls are snuggled up on the couch, watching a movie. School’s out until Monday so we are going apple picking tomorrow.
Thanks for showing your face, Autumn. I have been waiting all year for you.
Glad Autumn showed up at your house. Can you send some Autumn my way? Please? I want to wear corduroy and a sweater. I have a cute new jacket that I’m dying to wear. Sigh.
Amen sister. It is simply my favorite little time, just before it gets too cold. Fleeting and perfect, cozy and crisp. Time to get out the sweaters and give them a good shake and tumble… and hot coffee in my palms never tastes better. Hello Autumn…
It all sounds lovely. I’m ready for a bit of fall too, but summer (despite the calendar date) persists here in Texas. I’m weary of ninety degree weather and being closed into our air conditioned house. However, I must admit that as soon as the temperature has the nerve to dip below 60 degrees I start whining that it’s too cold! Just can’t please some people 🙂
My favorite seasons; Winter (Colorado Snow’s), Autumn, Spring, Summer (too hot). I miss my kids being little…well…sometimes! =)
Sounds like a fabulous weekend. I love autumn also, it’s so welcome after the hot summer!
Apple picking is the perfect way to welcome autumn. Have fun!!
Autumn is my favourite time of the year.
Here? We’re well into Spring. We’ve had the lowest September rainfall on record, so our city’s dams are only 30% full going into summer. More water restrictions are on the way.
But the days are brilliant blue and shiny… especially good for school holidays. Hopefully it’ll rain next week when we’re all back locked into classrooms.
I’m with you! I had to rejoice about the arrival of autumn on my blog as well. My favorite time of year for all of the reasons you named and more.
funny. i wore a skirt yesterday. wanted to wear boots. but thought the same. not just yet.
hello autumn!!!!!!!
Ahhh, I love it.
snuggling up on the couch to watch movies sounds divine! And sweater weather is pretty much perfect in my book!
I heart autumn. it’s finally 2 quilt weather here. hurray!
We’ve had cold morning followed by sweltering afternoons. We send our kids to school in shorts with a parka over top. Okay, not quite, but it’s difficult to get dressed in the morning. I’m looking forward to pulling out the sweater.
autumn= awesome! :]
We had a gorgeous Autumn day here today too. I always think that Spring is my favorite season, and then Fall comes around. I think they tie – I like the transitioning of them both and the colors that each produce. It’s nice to mark the time with such beautiful change. And this time of year, APPLES!!
Erin, you have great autumn attitude! Apple picking. I want to do that soon too!!
Have fun! Pick good apples. 🙂
Corduroy and apple picking- life doesn’t get any better, does it?
woo! Have fun!
It’s really fall, ya’ll! This morinng it was 48 here in southeast NM, Hopefully, snow for Thanksgiving, again…,
The rest of the year is just filler…fall is the best. We are picking apples this weekend too. Cheers to fall and the smell of apple pie in the oven.
Hi…I happened upon your blog and I am instantly addicted. I’m just starting to learn to sew and quilt and I love the ideas that you have on your blog. I am most impressed with your eye for color and how you pair fabric together (quilts, bags, etc.). I have to say that I can never find cute fabric where I live. Do you purchase your fabric at a nearby store or do you order online. Could you maybe give me some ideas of where I can find some good quality as well as cute fabric. Thank you and keep up the fun on your blog. I check it out almost daily!!!
ahhh, sounds fun. fall is making her appearance here today also. looking forward to wearing a pair of wool socks i made over the summer when sock season seemed unimaginable. enjoy the apple orchard!
. I am so very hot tonight, I was sewing but I gave up as sewing room too warm. You have a great blog, I love all your projects.
I feel the same way. I love the way autumn looks, feels, tastes, smells…feels like comfort to me!
Those last two sentences. Yes. Yes.
It is my favorite thing, too.
