Remodeling our kitchen has me itching to revamp a lot of our home. I wonder why that happens. To be fair, we have lived here 5 years and not one single room is what I would call finished. At the end of this project, the kitchen will be complete and the family room will be close to getting finished too. I know what I want to do in my dining room and will probably tackle that in the fall. I'm still looking for inspiration and I know that there are all kinds of resources out there of which I am unaware. So readers, do you have favorite home decorating/d.i.y./design blogs and what are they?
Thanks in advance. I'm checking out for the weekend. Back here next week.
I’m not going to help you at all but I am going to ask YOU a question now: I love your ranunculus photos and I’m obsessed with the ones I just purchased this past weekend but I’m concerned about clipping the buds and bringing them inside to fill my vases. Are you having lots of regrowth after you clip them? When are you finding the best time to clip them is? Once they’ve fully opened or while they are still buds. I see your vase here has a collection of them. How low are you clipping them as well?
The only advise I can give on home decorating is to go to the newsstand! Peruse Met Home and Martha and all the BHG special interest pubs. I can give you names if needed . . . there are also a few new home dec mags on the market right now, too. Go check ’em out! Keep those of us in publishing in our jobs! Support print! 🙂
I have 3 design blogs that I visit on a regular basis:
http://www.designspongeonline.com/
http://decor8blog.com/
http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/
We’ve never gone through remodeling ourselves (we just bought our first house last year and it’s already newly renovated so no work needs to be done there), but I will say that (re)decorating is so much fun! Good luck!
i’m still liking tumblr….

Okay maybe not what you’re looking for, but I’m loving http://www.knock-offwood.com You can build all kinds of neat things, it’s helping us give our master bedroom a face lift – next project is the farmhouse table for the kitchen.
I second designspongeonline.com and decor8blog.com. They are always inspiring.
http://www.mabelshouse.blogspot.com. She is truly fantastic!
I second knock-offwood.com
My talented sister at http://blog.urbangrace.com/
Check out her website too… it’s full of great ideas and inspiration!
Not a design blog as much as a “make your own Pottery Barn furniture” site:

I have my eye on the reclaimed wood headboard — maybe this summer?

Also, The Lettered Cottage is great (http://www.theletteredcottage.net/), lots of great DIY ideas.
This New House blog is also great (http://www.younghouselove.com/)

AWESOME BLOG FOR IDEAS http://www.houseofturquoise.com/
ooh…I’m going to be checking back! We have lived in our house since we married almost 9 years ago and we have done almost nothing to it! I’m so sick of parts of it and ready for a change! I’ve been doing a lot of brousing on Tumblr, which I love except I feel like I’m not doing it right..like I’m missing a lot of photos? Anyway, I’m excited to see what others have to say.
I have recently found this blog – http://reddoorhome.blogspot.com/
It has some interesting ideas. We are going to do our kitchen soon too! We’ve been here 5 yrs and only the kids rooms are done!
I’m looking forward to seeing the outcome of your remodeling. Good luck!
I love living etc magazine, they have a website as well, for modern airy homes, with nice inspiring touches!
Have a great Derby weekend!
Gosh, Erin, there are soooo many out there. When you start on one, you can jump from one to the other. I don’t see http://www.desiretoinspire.net/ mentioned. Another good source is http://www.lonnymag.com/Home.html – oh my, the eye candy! I’ve been hitting a lot of design blogs over the past year or so.
Redecorating – so much fun, so much work! I just recently found this…

Garden Web’s Home Forums provide a wealth of information and ideas. We referred to it often when building our home five years ago.
http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/
From the above link, you can choose from many different forums. The Home Decorating, Bath, and Kitchen were my favorite.
Can’t wait to see your progress!!
I like http://www.newlyweddiaries.blogspot.com/, http://oursuburbancottage.blogspot.com/, & http://vintagesimplehome.blogspot.com/

I have been following this one.

I like the ideas because you can customize to whatever suits you. My favorite lately on her site is taking a picture frame and put a piece of fabric in it instead of a picture and use it as a dry erase board.
My absolute favorite is Design Sponge! http://www.designspongeonline.com/
Check me out at room22design.blogspot.com
I am an interior design currently getting my masters in Architecture. The blog is filled with tons of inspirational pictures for the home. Enjoy & Good Luck!
